Restaurant Review: Kojo (Sarasota, FL)
Lively downtown Japanese restaurant with supportive service and quality cuisine
Kojo is a contemporary Japanese restaurant in downtown Sarasota. While close to a popular hotel and nightlife venue: The Art Ovation & Perspective Bar, the restaurant is located in an area that is quieter (and less tempting) than Main Street. Patrons encounter the bar upon entering Kojo, but the majority of seating focuses on the open kitchen and the bar becomes an after-thought once seated. While the menu is smaller than expected, with limited sushi options, the food is excellent. In fact, the smaller menu is a welcome change, as it makes ordering easier and implies the items are chosen with more intention. The yellowtail with jalapeño appetizer and the wagyu noodles entree are highly recommended! The service is also excellent and not rushed. The beverage menu has a good selection of non-alcoholic options, including a variety of hot & cold teas. Our server, Sean, went the extra mile and recommended an excellent off-menu non-alcoholic spicy margarita. I will be back!
